I’m all for consumer awareness, but the new transfer messages on teller-machines are really starting to shit me.
Since they’ve been introduced in the last couple of weeks, I’ve discovered myself actually talking back to the machines.
“I know it’s going to cost me $2.00 for the transaction, but do you have to keep reminding me?”, I’ve shouted more than one at a machine.
It’s the calculated risk you know you sometimes take for laziness, or inconvenience.
And besides… I refuse to believe the transaction should cost $2.00. Surely it only costs 2cents?
Anyway, in more positive news, we had a great night at the Lewisham for the usual Wednesday night drinks.
And I got to test out the video screen and sound system they have ahead of Sunday’s special screening of Melodifestivalen. And it works a treat.
In case you haven’t been following my blog, I’m a big fan of Melodifestivalen, the Swedish process which leads to a selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. It’s a bit like Australian Idol, though it predates it by many years.
Thanks to a terrific website http://swetv.org I’ve discovered you can now download these programs on a weekly basis. On my connection, it takes about 30 minutes. Yay!
And so this Sunday, I’ve organised for a special screening of the Melodifestivalen Grand Final at the Lewisham Hotel on Parramatta Road, Lewisham from 3.00pm.
I’m praying there won’t be any problems with the download by the way.
I mentioned it to my Swedish class on Tuesday night, to friends, to members of ABBA Village, and to Facebook in an effort to create awareness. But I thought I should mention it here also.
It starts at 3.00pm and goes for about 2 hours. It’s gonna be loads of fun.
It’s all in Swedish, but it’s reasonably straightforward to follow, and I suspect there will be enough Swedes in attendance to help with some of the more difficult aspects of translation.
And best of all… Melodifestivalen is heaps better than Eurovision. There’s no country-by-country voting. It’s all about the songs.
