“I’m a bit embarrassed”, I told my friend Grant. “I don’t really remember the story”. It’s been twenty or thirty years since I’ve seen “Torch Song Triology”, and even though it’s a “classic”, I went to the show yesterday with only a vague memory of what it was all about.
Set in New York during the late 70s/early 80s, it’s the story of one man’s relationships – with partners, and with his mother. In the case of partners, there’s the story of how his first partner goes on to get married to a woman, and how his second partner dies suddenly. In the end, he ends up back with his first partner.
We both enjoyed the production very much, especially since the cast contained Tim Draxl, who has been a favourite of Grant mine, since he released his first album back in the 1990s.
