Manly Saturday

I was running late, and so I paid a few extra dollars to catch the fast ferry. With only a few people on board, I couldn’t help but notice I was amongst a handful of middle aged nerdy blokes taking a close up look at one of the cruise ships at Sydney’s Circular Quay. “What next?”, I thought to myself. “Bird watching?”. Although the weather wasn’t perfect (it wasn’t terrible either), I enjoyed a terrific Saturday afternoon with friends, celebrating a birthday at Manly’s 16ft Skiff Club.… Read the rest “Manly Saturday”

Summer in Sydney

Meet me down by the jetty landing
Where the the pontoons bump and sway
I see the others reading, standing
As the Manly Ferry cuts its way to Circular Quay

Thirty years after hearing the song “Reckless” by Australian Crawl, and in particular the line, “As the Manly Ferry cuts its way to Circular Quay” remains emblazoned in my head.
