Councils keep telling us about the many old and diseased elms and plane trees and the danger they pose. No doubt they get an arbourist’s report and rely on a professional opinion, but I am very suspicious about all this.
There’s a school of thought that it’s about replacing introduced species with natives, though I don’t know if there’s much evidence to support the claim.
Sad – they were beautiful trees
The street is still beautiful, and I’m pleased the trees on my side seem “safe” for the moment.
