You know how you sometimes get to Wednesday and you feel like you’ve already done a week’s work? Something happened today that was so cool that I wanted to share it with you.
As you may know, I’m from Lismore, and went to a school on the “wrong side of the tracks”. Today, students from my old school, South Lismore Public School paid a visit to the ABC in Sydney. The class included my nephew Sam seen here with me and Robbie Buck, the Breakfast presenter on ABC Radio in Sydney.
Robbie is also from Lismore, and was so incredibly generous with his time, talking about volunteering, like me, at the local community radio stations 2NCR-FM from a young age (Robbie was ten, I was twelve).

A definite highlight for Sam was the opportunity to get behind the mic. A definite highlight for one of the teachers was having a selfie with Wendy Harmer. I’m really hopeful the visit will have a profound and positive impact on “my people”.
