Grey Skies

If ever there was a day to take a sickie, this is it! It’s a bit chilly, it’s a bit wet, and I just know getting to and from work is going to be a drama, but isn’t it great? I don’t actually recall when the rain started, as I was asleep by about 9.30 last night, but when I woke this morning at about 6.15, it was cold, wet and dark. And ain’t it great! Listening to Adam Spencer on 702 ABC Sydney, people are calling in with reports of widespread rain, including up to 30mm in the Mudgee district, and on the Central Coast, a listener has called in with 150mm of water in her backyard.

As it’s been such a long time since we’ve had rain, it’s great to have one of those grey days with the rumbling sound of thunder in the background. If ever there was a day to take a sickie, this is it, but I’ve got a busy couple of days ahead of me before I have two weeks break, commencing Monday. I’m gonna head down to Canberra to see Pat, and I’ll probably head up to Lismore, but I’m also looking forward to a few days working on my genealogy, which is continuing to fascinate me at the moment. I also have a couple of books in the pile I’m looking forward to reading.

Nothing else to report, aside from a lovely meal with a friend last night, and tomorrow night marks the Opening Night of the Sydney Film Festival. I’ve invited a friend to come with me to see “La Vie En Rose” and to enjoy a meal at the fantastic “Snakebean” on Oxford Street and for couple of bevvies before and after.

Although I’m on holiday, there’s a couple of work things in between (including some work on Saturday, so Friday night can’t be all that late), so I’m not sure how restful it will be. But I’m looking forward to it.
