National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award

I spent a couple of hours today wandering around the Museum and Gallery of the Northern Territory, Darwin, home of the annual National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award. Even though I’ve been to the museum a couple of times before, and I think it’s a wonderful museum, especially their Cyclone Tracey exhibition, today my focus was purely on the art award. These are the works I liked most. They’re contemporary (which is my artistic preference) and they often display humour, especially the work by Kaylene Whiskey, which is probably my favourite. The exhibition is on until November 11.
