Thank you for taking these beautiful photo’s and posting them on the internet.
William Sykes was married to Sarah Best my 4th Great Grandmother. She was a convict to Australia in 1798. She married Patrick Byrne, also a convict, in 1800 and their first daughter born in 1801 was Matilda, my 3rd GGrandmother.
Matilda married John William Carey and he managed The Union Inn at Appin in 1831.
Sadly Patrick Byrne died of illness fairly early on and Sarah re-married William Sykes. They had 3 sons.
What a beautiful building and I only wish I had the funds to restore the building to it’s original splendor. Our history is worth saving for future generations.
I note you love Sweden. I too love Sweden and visit fairly regularly. I have dear friends there so it’s lovely to know someone local.
Hej James, I’ve only just noticed your reply, must have been lost in my rush to peruse my daily mail. Yes, I love it in Sweden. I mainly visit Linkoping as I have friends there, time for them to visit us here again. Stockholm is a beautiful city. I love the architecture of Scandinavia and it’s wonderful that even though it’s a very tech savy culture they still preserve the old buildings, they just renovate the interiors. It’s been 3 and a bit years since I was last there. I visited friends in Upsalla and there was snow up to my knees, beautiful. Anyway thanks again Hej, hej Lynda

Not sure if you've read this yet: https://www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v47/n17/paul-laity/after-martha but thought I might mention it. Seems to be paywall free for…
I know what you mean. I'm going to write a post some day about how I use my mobile phone…
